Commencement - Graduation Requirements Quick Summary
Bachelor’s Graduation Requirements
- Apply for graduation (8/21/12 for Fall 2012 Graduates; 11/16/12 for Spring 2013 Graduates)
- Earn a minimum of 120 semester credit hours
- Take the final thirty (30) semester hours in residence at Shaw University (or at a Cooperating Raleigh College institution – Meredith College, North Carolina State University, Peace College, or St. Augustine’s College)
- Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above
- Fulfill Core Curriculum Requirements
- Fulfill the departmental and major course requirements specified (i.e., in your degree checklist issued by your major department)
- Complete all coursework in the final semester (no incomplete grades)
- Pay the graduation fee ($150 – Undergraduate Students)
- Complete the Graduation Clearance Process and all assessments, surveys, and required departmental examinations

Master’s Graduation Requirements
- Apply for graduation (8/21/12 for Fall 2012 Graduates; 11/16/12 for Spring 2013 Graduates)
- Earn the minimum semester credit hours for your graduate program:
- Master of Science (Curriculum and Instruction) – 42 hours
- Master of Religious Education – 66 hours
- Master of Divinity – 90 hours
- Earn the cumulative grade point average for your graduate program:
- Master of Science (Curriculum and Instruction) – 3.0 or above
- Master of Religious Education – 3.0 or above
- Master of Divinity – 2.0 or above
- Complete all coursework in the final semester (no incomplete grades)
- Pay the graduation fee ($200 – Graduate Students)
- Complete the Graduation Clearance Process and all assessments, surveys, and required departmental examinations
