Learning Outcomes
The unit
learning outcomes of the Department of Education are:
1.1 to
ensure the curricula in education programs adhere to all National Council
for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the State Board of Education (SBE),
the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), institutional
(SU), and departmental (DOE) standards and requirements;
2.1 to use
assessments (related to content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge,
professional and pedagogical knowledge and skills, professional
dispositions, and student learning) to document that candidates meet
professional, state, and institutional standards;
3.1 to
collect, analyze, and evaluate data using the Blackboard Course Management
System for the assessment system, unit evaluation, and planning for program
improvement;
4.1 to
collaborate with school partners to design, implement, and evaluate field
experiences and clinical practice to ensure that candidates can development
and demonstrate their understanding of the knowledge, skills, and
dispositions to help all students learn;
5.1 to
design, implement, and evaluate curriculum and experiences to ensure that
candidates work with diverse faculty, candidates, and students in B-K and
P-12 schools;
6.1.1 to
continue to require faculty to use multiple assessment instruments,
including the assessment of their own effectiveness as related to candidate
performance, to model best professional practices in teaching, scholarship,
and teaching; to collaborate with colleagues in the disciplines and schools,
and to facilitate professional development;
7.1.1 to
ensure the Teacher Education Council (TEC) as a partnership between the
university and the professional community in the design, implementation and
evaluation of all
teacher
education programs; and
7.2 to
confirm that the budget for the unit meets or exceeds the needs for the unit
and all programs served.
