Dr. Holsey-Hyman Spectacular Magazine 2017 Women of Year-Education
In its January issue, Spectacular Magazine pays tribute to a phenomenal cast of Triangle area women who were awarded the publication's 2017 Woman of the Year honors. Among them, Shaw University Assistant Professor of Social Work, Dr. Monique Holsey-Hyman.
During its annual awards gala held at the Sheraton Hotel in Chapel Hill this past Fall, Spectacular Magazine recognized and honored the achievements of African American women. Out of hundreds of nominations from the Triangle community and the magazine's readership, 29 African American women in eight categories were selected by a selection committee. Nine of those ultimately received the distinctive designation as Spectacular Magazine Women of the Year.
Dr. Holsey-Hyman received the honor for her career achievements in the "Education" category. She was in great company as other notables took home the honor. Other recipients included the late Debra Saunders-White, former Chancellor of NC Central University, Sara Stephens, CEO of the Hillsborough/Orange Chamber of Commerce, and Mama Dip’s Restaurant founder Mildred Council and former U.S. Representative, the Honorable Eva Clayton, who both received Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Dr. Holsey-Hyman and all of the other women are highlighted in the January issue of Spectacularwhich is distributes a paper magazine as well as a digital issue.
