Jeffrey J. Richards, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Religion and Ethics. Dr. Richards taught for several years in Shaw's Divinity School but began teaching full-time in the Religion and Philosophy department in 2007.
Born in Columbus, OH, and growing up in western Minnesota, Dr. Richards moved to Salisbury, NC in his teenage years. His undergraduate degree is from Pfeiffer University and subsequent graduate degrees are the following: Dallas Theological Seminary, Th.M.; Drew University, M.Phil. and Ph.D.; and Marburg University (Germany), Th.D. He has taught on the faculties of numerous universities and seminaries. He is the author of several books, all of which are accessible on amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com. His interest in missions has taken him in recent years to such countries as the D.R. Congo, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ukraine, Germany, England, Romania, India, Latvia, and Mexico in which countries he teaches at universities and holds conferences for pastors. He is a board member of several mission boards including International Theological Education Ministries, ITEM.
Dr. Richards is ordained within the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and is active within this denomination as a guest preacher and teaching in several local churches. He and his wife, Debbie, have grown twin daughters. He enjoys exercising, traveling, biking, writing, and listening to classical and religious music.
