Athletes Participate in Youth Week

opened Youth Week Tuesday morning when members of the Shaw Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee (SAAC) visited two classes at Ligon Middle School. This kicked off a week of activities that
includes school visits and concludes with Shaw's Youth Day football game on

Director Marcus Clarke. "This week gives us a chance to cement our ties
with the local community and build relationships with schools that are our
neighbors here in Southeast Raleigh."
SAAC members will visit classes at Ligon Middle School and at Bugg Elementary,
as well as take part in Bugg's morning newscast. Their message will center on the value of
education and the importance of making good life choices.
part of a week of community engagement, the Shaw football team will lead a
campus cleanup on Friday morning.
Saturday, the week culminates with Youth Day at Shaw's football game against
Charleston (WV) at 1:00 p.m. at Durham County Memorial Stadium. Tickets for
children under 12 will be only $5 for the contest.
