January 10, 2011 -  Dr. Marilyn Sutton-Haywood, Shaw Vice President of Academic Affairs, addressed the 58th Annual One-Day Session of the Woman’s Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina. The session took place this past Saturday at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Sutton-Haywood brought the group greetings on behalf of Dr. Irma McClaurin, Shaw President, thanking the group “for supporting Shaw for many years and a variety of ways.” She added, “We ask for your support through prayer – your support of any kind whatsoever.  With your support, Shaw will be strong for another 165 years.”



Shaw University was founded in 1865 and is the oldest historically black university in the south. Shaw University is a private, co-educational, liberal arts University that awards degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The primary mission of Shaw University is teaching with the commitment to maintain excellence in research and academic programs that foster intellectual enhancement and technological skills.
