Shaw Board Chairman to Welcome Women's Basketball Team to His Home

December 9, 2011,  Stuart, FL – Shaw University Board Chairman Willie Gary and his wife, Gloria Gary will welcome the Shaw University Girls Basketball Team to South Florida. The Garys will host a private dinner for the team at the Gary estate, located in beautiful Sewall's Point, Florida. The championship team is travelling to Florida to compete in The Palm Beach Classic Basketball Tournament.

The women's basketball team will enjoy live entertainment and a five-course dinner. The Garys hope that the gathering will serve as motivation and encouragement to excel in academics and on the basketball court.

"Gloria and I are honored to have the opportunity to open the doors of our home to the Shaw University Women's Basketball team," commented Gary. "These students have worked hard and played hard and they demonstrate the true meaning of teamwork and camaraderie. I'm so proud of their athletic and academic accomplishments and I wish them much success," continued Gary.

Known for his philanthropic endeavors, Willie Gary and his wife, Gloria, founded The Gary Foundation, which provides college scholarships to at-risk students who wish to attend college. The Gary's have pledged millions of dollars to help Historically Black Colleges and Universities – including $10 million to their alma mater Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
