Bears Win CIAA Title Again!!! 
November 14, 2010,  Durham, NC -  Shaw used outstanding play by its defense to win their fourth CIAA championship with a hard-fought 14-7 victory against Virginia State before 8,107 at Durham County Stadium.

Etheridge Visits Shaw University, Highlights HBCU Funding

Raleigh, NC (October 13, 2010) – U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) visited students at Shaw university today and toured the campus, highlighting a recent nearly $1 million federal grant awarded to the university. Shaw received funding under the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Institutional Aid Program.  

Shaw Library Receives Mollie Lee Collection Donation from Wake County Public Library 
Ribbon Cutting  October 1, 2010 - Shaw University's James Cheek Library will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony today at 11:00 a.m. to showcase its new Mollie Huston Lee Collection of African-American books. Wake County Public Library donated 2,300 items from the collection, named for its founder, which is housed in the County's Richard B. Harrison Library.

RALEIGH (September 10, 2010) - Attorney Willie E. Gary, Chairman of the Shaw University Board of Trustees, announced that Dr. Irma McClaurin will be Shaw University's 15th President.

Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee  April 8, 2010 - Miss Ella Baker graduated as the valedictorian from Shaw's Class of 1927...and it was on the campus of Shaw University that the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was born.

  January 8, 2009 - James E. Cheek, a towering figure in higher education, former President of Shaw University and an alumnus of Shaw passed away Friday, January 8 at the age of 77.
