Shaw Senior Performs in Opera, La Boheme
January 31, 2014 - Taurian Parham, a senior music and visual arts major, performed with the North Carolina Opera's production of Puccini's La Boheme, in which he served as one of the supernumeraries [background actors].
Parham is a gifted baritone, with a unique and smooth voice. Originally from Zebulon, he provides musical leadership to his community. He also serves as a youth leader for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Parham received mentoring and training for this position from Shaw alumnae, Jewelynn Dunn ‘01. He is scheduled to give his senior recital this semester.
Shaw students Torrence Vadahl, Domenic Thomas, Ryan Tosé; alumnae Christina Waldo, and Parham's mother accompanied Dr. Loñieta Thompson Cornwall to this stellar performance. Both Tosé and Waldo previously served as supernumeraries with Parham in Aida last spring.
Parham is the vocal student of Dr. Nikita Shah Pace, Shaw voice professor.
