    Icon Former Shaw University president immortalized in hometown
    The Roanoke Rapids City Council unanimously voted for a resolution honoring former Shaw University president and alumnus, Dr. James E. Cheek, Sr. '58. The Council will hold the resolution during its first February meeting which coincides with Black History Month.
