Shaw University Football
Announces Spring Game
Raleigh, NC – (April 2,
2008) The Bears football
program at Shaw University
has slated Saturday, April 5th
for their annual Spring Game
at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside
High School in Durham, North
Carolina located at
3727 Fayetteville Street.
The Bears are the current
2007 CIAA Champions.
Head
Coach Darrell Asberry and
the coaching staff are
already underway with
practice and preparation for
the upcoming 2008 season.
Talking about the direction
and focus of the game,
Assistant Coach Quincy
Pedew, Running
Backs/Recruiting Coordinator
stated, “We are going to
pitch defense versus offense
in a practice controlled
scrimmage. Our emphasis
will be on the fundamentals
versus actual play.”
In the
spirit of competition
Assistant Coach Perez
Boulware, Defensive
Coordinator/Linebackers
stated, “Every time we hit
the field we position
ourselves in game like
situations and we practice
in a competitive
atmosphere. We practice
daily with intensity. The
coaches compete; the players
compete. Moral is up and
everybody stays focused.
Walking off of the field is
the team concept but it gets
very competitive out there.
We break down with the
Lord’s Prayer lifting our
hands, hearts and minds in
unison.”
The
Spring Game will be an
exciting step towards the
Bears mission to recapture
the CIAA Championship.
Please come out and support
the Bears and get a glimpse
of action that will surely
set the tone of competition
for the 2008 season.
