The Office of Academic Computing offers faculty and students with collection of support and services for the purpose of integration of computer/information technologies into every day teaching and learning at Shaw University. This office is also responsible for helping faculty and students in effective use of emerging computer/information technologies.

Other responsibilities include:
- leading Shaw University's efforts in using information technologies to support faculty
  and students computing services users across campus;
- serving as internal technology consultant to faculty and students;
- planning, and overseeing the setup of instructional computing facilities and networks;
- developing and coordinating technology training classes/seminars for faculty
  and students
- assisting faculty in developing and using computer based instructions, online classes,
  and Web publishing;
- devising procedures related to proper usage of academic computing resources,
  including Intranet, Internet and other electronic services;
- providing faculty and students with access to Internet, World Wide Web and email and;
- operating and managing a helpdesk.
