Teacher Education Program
Undergraduate
There are three undergraduate majors available in the Division of Education, Social Work & Child Development:
- Early Child Development
- Birth-Kindergarten
- Elementary Education
Admission to either of these undergraduate programs can be completed through the University application. Formal admission into the major occurs after a candidate completes a number of courses and obtains the required GPA.
Graduate
There is one graduate program available:
- Master of Science in Early Childhood Education (Concentration I: Early Childhood Administration or Concentration II: Birth-Kindergarten Education)
Admission to the graduate program is distinct from admission to the University. For admissions information in reference to the graduate program, students should contact the Education Department at 919-546-8530.
Teacher Certification
In addition to regular, degree-seeking students, the Teacher Education Department also admits "certification-only students", i.e. those who are adding on a certificate or those who already hold a degree and are seeking initial certification. An application
for admission can be completed through the University application through selection of "Teacher Certification."
