    Chapel Opportunities

    Chapel Assistant Program (CAP)

The Chapel Assistant Program is for students preparing for ministry and missions, and/or who wish to grow spiritually by using their gifts and graces to support the Chapel services and programs.  These persons assist the University Chaplain in leading worship, assisting with the media ministry, ushering, praise dance ministry and other chapel activities.

    Outreach and Missions

Shaw students are encouraged to engage in outreach opportunities and missions in the Raleigh community and abroad.  The chapel provides opportunities for students to support local missions, community shelters and feed the homeless programs.

    The Shaw University Gospel Choir

Consisting of all members of the Shaw University community, the gospel choir is a spirit filled ensemble of individuals that sing gospel songs, rooted in the Baptist tradition, coming together to inspire the entire university community.

*The Shaw Community Engagement Project (SCEP)

Building on the rich and enduring legacy of student activism and community engagement, the Community Engagement Program is designed to create experiential learning opportunities in student and community organizing, learning the historic and philosophy of nonviolent resistance, promoting voter registration, and becoming agents of social change.

Saturday at 10:30 a.m. the Shaw University community comes together, undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Divinity, to worship, fellowship, and be inspired through gospel music, liturgical dance, and preaching from some of the nation’s leading clergy and scholars.

    Noon Day Bible Study

    Wednesdays, 12:00 Noon

Every Wednesday, at 12:00 p.m., the Shaw University community, including faculty, students and staff, are invited for mid-week prayer, devotion, reflection, and spiritual support.  Led by the University Chaplain, noon day prayer is an opportunity for quite calm amid the haze of business that comes with life in the academy. The entire Raleigh community is invited to join us for this community moment.
