  • Icon Representative-elect Roberson will be sworn in on Wednesday January 13 2021
    After five years successfully serving as the Mayor of Knightdale, North Carolina, Shaw University alumnus James Roberson (Class of ‘86) has been selected to serve a vacated seat in the North Carolina General Assembly. In addition to his time as Mayor of Knightdale, Mr. Roberson previously served for eight years on its city council.

    Today we watch in utter horror as American citizens disgrace and storm the US Capitol. Shaw University unequivocally denounces this violence against human life and our democracy. While we support peaceful protests, we affirm that these armed insurrectionists do not represent the values of most of the citizens of our country.


    Icon Shaw University’s Center for Racial and Social Justice Awarded $525,000 Gilead Sciences Grant

    Today Shaw University announces that Gilead Sciences, Inc. has awarded the university’s Center for Racial and Social Justice (CRSJ) a $525,000 grant distributed over a three-year period. Shaw’s Center for Racial and Social Justice launched in June 2020 to further the development of a more just and equitable society.
