About the Honors College:

I owe my drive, my success, my motivation, my diligence and my unwillingness to accept people telling me "I can't" to God, my parents, and the Honors College. Shaw University gave me an opportunity that no one else would, a chance to go to school and come out debt free. While most of my friends were avoiding calls from Sallie Mae, I was able to save my money and work towards my dream of homeownership before the age of 25. The Honors College and Dr. Leathers gave me a sense of pride and family that I needed and will always treasure. The Honors College allowed me to constantly be surrounded by a group of students that had dreams that far exceeded any of the expectations and limitations that others put on us and I was motivated!  Motivated to be the best I could possibly be academically as to not let down the people who saw something in me before even seeing my face.  I love the Honors College for the life lessons I learned and will always be grateful.
