Memorial Garden Endowment
Located across from Debnam Hall, the Shaw University Memorial Garden is a peaceful location for private worship and meditation for the entire University and local community. It's charming flowers, attractive shrubs, blossoming trees, idyllic benches and arbors create a picturesque and tranquil setting on our vibrant campus. Accompanying the garden's striking scenery is a brick walkway with personalized inscriptions. The garden was enhanced by a donation from the late Dr. Jeffery A. Smith, former Vice President for Student Affairs and Administration, in memory of his father, Jimmie Haynes Smith, Sr.
You have the opportunity to celebrate and memorialize your time at Shaw University with flowers and an engraved plaque for the garden, and/or an engraved brick for the walkway. We believe this project will not only improve the physical landscape of our campus, but will also enrich the lives of our students and help ensure the future success of Shaw University.
Support the Garden
To support the garden, simply choose a flower/plant for the garden or brick for the walkway. Garden area donors receive a beautiful cast aluminum plaque or an engraved stake mount to showcase their support. Brick donors will receive an engraved personalized paver displayed along the garden's walkway.
