Miss Shaw University - 2012-2013
On Monday, October 15,
Shirnetta Alexander captured the coveted title of Miss Shaw University
During the ceremony, Alexander discussed her platform entitled
S.H.A.W which stands for Shirnetta Helping Women Everywhere. She developed her
platform with intentions of promoting positive relationships among college
women. Her goal is to share her personal testimonies as an example of how being
a woman of prayer, strength, and humility can help young women achieve success.
Alexander, raised more
than $1,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness as part of her coronation, in honor of late grandmother, Mrs. Shirley
Whitley, who died from breast cancer in 2003.
Alexander is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Upon graduation, she plans to receive her Master’s degree in Social Work with a
concentration in Women’s Issues. Her goal is to become an Executive Director for
a mental health agency that focuses on mental issues associated with young
Miss Shaw University and her court are currently planning events
for the 2012-2013 academic year that relate to their respective platforms.
Miss Shaw University's Court
Miss Shaw University's court consists of all the Kings and Queens at Shaw University. They represent the ideals of the young men and women who attend this illustrious institution. During their reign of service, Miss Shaw University and her Court collectively participate in several philanthropic and educational endeavors. They also produce on-campus programs that benefit the Shaw University community.
