Her duties include customer service, assisting patrons with internet access, assisting with locating library materials for patrons, and technical support along with the day-to-day library operations. She also established and managed the Divinity School Book Bank to help the students who are in need and can’t afford to purchase their books. She has a passion for the arts, humanities, and libraries, which has led her to a wide-ranging professional career in a variety of roles in education and libraries. She has previous experience in public and community college libraries, and university library special collections departments. In addition to information organization, her professional interests include user experience design and linked data. She holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from Kent State University and a BA in Art History from Brigham Young University. Williams, Velma Title: Library Specialist Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Phone: 919-546-8438 Velma Williams, Library Specialist Velma Williams joined the Shaw University library system in 2007. Her contributions to the Library have been varied and rewarding. She has performed a variety of duties including, record-keeping, statistical data collection, cataloging shelf maintenance, and student worker supervision. She also developed and coordinated a library story hour in conjunction with the Center for Early Childhood Education and Research. Some of her proudest moments have been sharing Shaw’s historical contribution at the North Carolina Museum of History, the Greensboro Civil Rights Exhibit, and the Olivia Raney Local History Library. Her prior educational experience includes 22 years of elementary teaching experience in Virginia and North Carolina school systems. She has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Virginia State University and Library Science graduate course work from Longwood University.
