Student Affairs - Judicial Services
Welcome to the Office of Judicial Services. While student discipline is important, the main focus of this office is assisting in the overall development of the student by encouraging them to make good decisions, respect others, and assume responsibility for their own personal actions. While adhering to the prescribed student code of conduct this office reinforces the need for our students to be moral, ethical, law-abiding citizens.
Judicial Services governs not only by University policy but by local, state, and national laws as dictated by individual violations. The information kept by this office is confidential and falls under the guidelines of Family Educational Rights to Privacy
Act (FERPA) although for data and statistical purposes may be reported per the Clery Act, a federal law which requires the reporting of crimes on college campuses.
It also complies with the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 which speaks to discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities.
Judicial Services works in conjunction with the entire campus community in adjudicating student violations receiving referrals from campus appearance tickets (CAT) issued by Campus Police and Security, reports from students and referrals from academics
or other campus units. Off campus reports are generally initiated through the Campus Police & Security Office and are adjudicated according to policy.
For more information, students and staff are encouraged to visit the office located on the first floor of the Dimple Newsome Residence Hall during the normal university operating hours.
