Dr. Tiffany Mackey to Serve as Awards Day 2026 Speaker at Shaw University

Shaw University will welcome alumna Dr. Tiffany Mackey as the featured speaker for Awards Day 2026, scheduled for Thursday, April 16, at 11 a.m. in Thomas J. Boyd Chapel.

A Savannah, Georgia native, Mackey is a recognized rare disease subject-matter expert and sickle cell disease advocate with more than 15 years of experience across epidemiology, rare diseases, infectious diseases and clinical research. She is a healthcare strategist and scientific leader whose work focuses on improving awareness, access and patient outcomes in historically overlooked communities.

Mackey’s professional experience includes roles in pharmaceutical sales, medical affairs and clinical science, where she has collaborated with clinicians, payers, researchers and advocacy organizations to advance evidence-informed care and patient-centered innovation. She is known for translating complex scientific data into insights that inform strategy, mobilize stakeholders and elevate health equity.

Currently serving as a senior pharmaceutical sales representative, Mackey has been recognized for consistently exceeding key performance indicators and identifying underdiagnosed rare disease patients. Her work has contributed to increased clinical engagement and access to disease-modifying therapies, earning her recognition as a Sales MVP.

A proud Shaw University alumna, Mackey earned a Bachelor of Science in biology in 2011. During her time at Shaw, she was a Presidential Scholar, member of the Honors College, Student Government Association and the Platinum Sound Marching Band dance line. She later earned a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from Georgia Southern University in 2013 and a Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University in 2019.

Mackey is a member of the Alpha Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and currently serves as chair of communications and public relations for the Savannah Alumnae Chapter. She also serves on the sorority’s National Institutional Research Committee.

Beyond her professional work, she serves on the board of directors for the Linda L. Bryant School and as a program lead with the Society of Women Engineers Coastal Empire. She is also a published clinical scientist and journalist.

Mackey remains committed to service, leadership and community impact. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “Guided by God, I move with purpose and strategy, and hold myself to a standard of impact.”
