RALEIGH, N.C. —Shaw University’s Bachelor of Science in Cyber Operations program has been validated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and a committee of academic peers through the 2031 academic year, affirming the program’s alignment with national standards for cybersecurity education as part of the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations.

The validation recognizes Shaw University’s commitment to preparing students with advanced technical knowledge and practical skills to address growing cybersecurity challenges and help safeguard the nation’s digital infrastructure.

Cybersecurity remains a critical national priority as demand for skilled professionals continues to rise across government, industry and public institutions. The program’s validation confirms that Shaw University’s curriculum meets rigorous academic requirements to prepare graduates to protect information systems and networks.

“As cyber threats continue to evolve, the need for highly trained cybersecurity professionals has never been greater,” said Dr. Syed Raza, associate professor of computer science and program coordinator for cyber operations in the Department of Computer Science. “This validation reflects the strength of our curriculum and our commitment to preparing students with the skills needed to protect critical systems and infrastructure while contributing to the nation’s cybersecurity workforce.”
