Shaw University Alum, Carolyn Hodges Bell Secures Reelection to Savannah City Council

Savannah, Georgia – Carolyn Hodges Bell, an esteemed alumna of Shaw University, has once again emerged victorious in the recent Savannah City Council elections, securing her position as Alderman At-Large Post 1.

In her role as Alderman At-Large Post 1, Bell shoulders the responsibility of representing the 148,000 citizens of Savannah. Her journey in this position began in 2011 when she was first elected, and she has since served two consecutive terms. served two terms. During that period, she initiated the Summer 500 Internship Program and worked on juvenile justice reform and housing initiatives.

Bell received a BS Degree in Mathematics from Shaw University, a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Georgia and Masters in Christian Education and Divinity from Shaw University
