Shaw University Alumni Help Guide Future of Lenovo Center and Regional Economy

Shaw University alumni Terrell Midgett ’98 and LT McCrimmon ’05 are helping shape the future of one of North Carolina’s most prominent entertainment destinations as members of the 21-member board overseeing the Lenovo Center and its surrounding entertainment district.

Home to the 2026 Stanley Cup champions Carolina Hurricanes, the Lenovo Center hosts more than 200 events annually, drawing visitors from across the country and generating more than $200 million in annual economic impact. Over its lifespan, the venue and surrounding entertainment district are projected to contribute billions of dollars in economic activity to the region.

From championship celebrations and sporting events to concerts, conventions and community gatherings, the board’s decisions will influence the region’s future growth, vibrancy and economic success.

“Nearly three decades after graduating from Shaw University, I remain grateful for the foundation that prepared me not only for a career, but for a lifetime of service,” Midgett said.

The leadership of Midgett and McCrimmon reflects Shaw University’s longstanding tradition of preparing graduates who lead with purpose, strengthen communities and contribute to North Carolina’s continued growth.
