Shaw University Achieves Record-Breaking Enrollment Growth for Fall 2024 Freshman Class

Raleigh, N.C. – Shaw University is proud to announce a significant achievement in student enrollment for Fall 2024. With a 36% increase in new student enrollment, the university has welcomed its largest freshman class since the pandemic, signaling a resurgence in interest and commitment to higher education at the nation’s first historically Black university (HBCU) in the South.

This year, 400 new students have joined Shaw University, marking a monumental step forward in the institution’s strategic efforts to expand access to education and foster academic excellence. In addition to this enrollment surge, several other milestones have been achieved:

• 36% Increase in New Student Enrollment from Fall 2023 to Fall 2024.
• An increase in the average GPA of first-year students, demonstrating Shaw University’s commitment to attracting academically talented individuals.
• Notable growth in graduate education enrollment, reflecting the institution’s expanding role in postgraduate studies.
• An increase in adult degree program enrollment, emphasizing Shaw’s dedication to lifelong learning and professional development.
• A 33% increase in student yield, further solidifying Shaw University as a top choice for students seeking an enriching educational experience.
